An on-grid solar system, or grid-tied system, generates electricity from solar panels, converts it to usable AC power, and either uses it directly or feeds excess energy back to the public utility grid for credits via net metering. These systems are reliable, offer lower installation costs, and help reduce electricity bills and carbon emissions by supplementing grid power, but they rely on the grid for backup during low sunlight periods.
